I am a photographer based in Shannon (Co. Clare, Ireland) and I specialize in landscapes, seascapes and abstract photographs.
My favourite places are the Dingle Peninsula, the Spanish Point, the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher and Kilkee as well as the Glen of Aherlow and areas in Wicklow, Waterford, Donegal and Northern Ireland.
I was born in ‘communist’ Czechoslovakia to a family of mix nationalities, my mother being Hungarian and my father of Italian descent.
I started my adventure in photography as a 9 year old boy. After some time I changed my media to movies
(8 mm films).
I took lot of "films" of bats in opal mines in Dubnik (Slovak Republic) and did other short movies of life but it was expensive and did not express my feelings.
After that I changed to photography and felt it was the media in which I could find a highly creative outlet that suited me.
I learned from books by Gal Gyorgy Sandor (Hungarian writer) about the life of Giuseppe Verdi and Bokay Janos (Hungarian writer) about life of Giacomo Puccini.
Both books taught me that all my "artwork" should express my inner feelings and not cater to what other people wanted to see! Sometimes, however you need to satisfy your customers desires.
I love to take photos of trees, clouds, waves on the sea and waterfalls, but I am fascinated, above all, by the sun. Sunsets are my favourite photographic topic. I also take underwater photos, mainly of the scenery under the sea.
I like taking colour pictures, but I always come back to black and white photographs.
My abstract pictures are based on the details of the nature and try to put some feelings into them.
I would like to achieve with my pictures few things:
- to help people relax in our very fast life,
- to help to find time and look my photos and realise that lot of beautiful things can be seen all around us, in nature, and we should not destroy it.
I would not like to see that our next generation could see the beauty of our world only from pictures.

There’s always room for an artist who has
the desire, the passion to portray beauty, natural,
uncompromising beauty, to remind us of what is out
there.
Grilli has the eye, the sensitivity and the patience needed to capture the moments in time that are precious and fleeting. His generous spirit also allows him to want to share these moments, to make us aware of the extraordinary beauty that only Nature can offer; to remind us of the grandeur that, at times, is right in front of us and goes unnoticed.
His subjects, at times commonplace, at times awesome, are always a determined and never-ending search for beauty. The exquisite, impeccable landscapes and seascapes of Ireland are the subjects of his website and well worth the visit.
An
eye for composition, and an obvious appreciation for Nature is what exempifies Roberto as a photographer.
