Pat Timbrook
painter / USA

Two words, CHOSEN EMOTIONS,
They encapsulate what I paint and why: For me, to create somehow always involves my emotions, whether consciously or subconsciously.
When I look at my own art, I am connected to each piece, and they to each other. Like flags on a ship, they wave; they silently announce to all who pass by stop, look, think, Then, other viewers stop, look, and think, too. They choose an emotion. That, makes my circle complete.
Artist History ::
n the 1980s, using Prismacolor pencils, I finished twelve illustrations as part of children's literature portfolio to accompany several manuscripts. Because of the extreme number of hours required to complete each pencil illustration, I dropped illustrating and focused solely on writing for children.
In the mid 1990s, my husband Fred and I founded FOUNTAIN PUBLISHING, LLC, and formed a team of professional writers and illustrators to produce "TRAILS 'N TREASURES, The Christian Magazine for Kids 6-12." I co-edited the story manuscripts, oversaw the creation of the magazine's mascot, Baxter Baldwin, and the art layouts for the full-color, 32 page publication.
In the late 1990s we ceased publication of the magazine. I continued to write, edit, and review children's books. Then, in 1999, Fred challenged me to create artwork for our new home, since we were unable to find art that was 'just right.' I took the challenge. I completed 18 art pieces in less than 2 years. Through this, two things happened: (1) I rediscovered my passion for abstract design, a genre I had loved even back in my high school days; and (2) I was challenged to create additional art work outside the boundaries of our home.
In 1998 I returned to painting on a full-time basis, using acrylics on crude fabrics, and occasionally incorporating 3-Dimensional paints, jewelry, string, or buttons, etc. into my artwork. Also, I developed a decoupage technique, which I call, “abstract refractions.” Using this method for two large abstract works resulted in a “Best of Show” award for Fractured Refractions, and a First Place in 2-D award for Moon Cry.
In December 2002, in a small gallery in Cumberland, Maryland, my style caught the attention of full-time working artist Suzanne Donazetti. Through her helpful art advice and encouragement, along with the ever-present support of my husband, I began to explore the professional side of the art world, which is proving to be one of the most exciting and rewarding changes in my life.
Since 2005 until the present time, I am involved with a variety of art galleries and art associations throughout the state of Florida, as well as exhibiting in juried fine art competitions nationally. |

Gallery Comment :
Pat Timbrook's work always involves an interesting expression of space, whether in her Density Series of pen and ink or her highly colorful abstract paintings. You can almost feel the sensation that moves her to create a depth, to offer the viewer the ability to move within the work, to explore, to feel a sort of freedom within the composition. Wonderful!
