Brandy Eve Allen

photographer / USA

At 18 Brandy began taking photography seriously. Self-taught, she constantly photographed those close to her. When there was no one around, she turned the camera on herself creating fantasy realism portraits.

At 21 she moved to Torino, Italy. Italy responded with great enthusiasm to her work with gallery shows, magazine articles, and the attention of influential members of the art community.

In 2003 she moved back to Los Angeles where her art continues to evolve. Rather than reflect the isolation of this city's urban sprawl, she’s creating art through an intimate and personal process. Deeply affected by the transient nature of relationships with family, friends, lovers or a memorable stranger, photography is a way of freezing and holding onto a moment. Her work embodies European classicism infused with an underground avant-garde rebellion. The images show not only what people look like, but rather what they feel like.

BRANDY ALLEN

Gallery Comment:

Capturing moments, sometimes staged, sometimes as they present themselves; always protraying something that would be missed by the average photographer. Her portraits, even her fashion shots, showdepth - a glance, a situation, presented with a softness that belies a trangressive attitude. An intention to bring out the most emotion fromher subject matter.
