Several successful events have been held to present the works of David Genovesi at the ARTROM Gallery artist presentation space at Via Faiti, 6 in Rome, Italy, including the inauguration party on Dec. 7th.

The American artist presented 40 recent mixed media paintings of various dimensions, almost all of them painted on wood. The personal exhibition extended to include all the rooms of the Gallery. 

Mixing cultures has always played a large part in the artwork of David Genovesi. The artist borrows and combines the beauty of ancient civilizations and confronts it with more modern canons of beauty, creating an intriguing dialogue between the two.

Calligraphy, texts, "writing" and the Word as it is deciphered and rewritten throughout history is another on-going theme in his art and is represented in the exhibition with smaller works on paper and wood..

One room of the gallery was reserved for the recent series "Faces", 20 portraits presented together with great visual impact. These small portaits are painted on wood using acrylic, paper and collage and are presented together with great visual impact. They are inspired by the nameless, anonymous publicity photos of women used to intice someone to buy some product. Genovesi uses that style and transforms this vacant beauty with no "anima" and brings them to life.

The larger works in the exhibition are assemblages of painted wooden shapes applied to the surface. Many layers and veils of transparent color give depth and "corpo" and the sensation of age. They are "constructed" paintings and require the experience of the artisan with the vision of the artist.
