Artist Statment:

Born in 1952, Aradhna had an endearing childhood in the small, languid town of Hardoi in central India.

An incisive observer of human behavior from her early years, Aradhna’s work reflects the kaleidoscope of human emotions and  has been exhibited widely in India and US. Her semi-figurative compositions in oil and acrylic explore the hues of human relationships through a dynamic interplay of evocative bodily forms and of nature. “Paintings for me is both an expression of my observation and a dialogue with my inner self. It is a spontaneous exercise - a leap to freedom - unfettered of the external world.”

Love, tenderness, submission, compassion, introspection - her works cast a 360 degree net of the human condition. The canvases chronicle her impressions just as a diary would, unfolding her perspective on life as she sees it. The human forms on canvas interestingly, aren’t sketched to any anatomical precision – rather by being granted certain distortions, they are lent a somewhat piquant, inscrutable quality.

Her style is individualistic, refusing to conform to any dogma or -ism. Some of her works evoke the moody quality of Frida Kahlo’s, while other bring to mind the sensibilities of the French artist Louis Toffoli. A delight for the discerning onlooker, her art speaks a simple language that is expressive in it’s content, profound in it’s treatment and human in it’s appeal.
