Artist Statement ::

Martine Rhyner's painting a the yearning to overcome the physical world, to penetrate into open, boundless space and to allow the emotions to take effect. As a child she was already painitng irrational worlds, submerging herself in the works of Surrealist pianters.

Born in 1958 in Geneva, Switzerland.
After graduating from high school, she entered the Basel Academy of Art, where she spent various years studying various aspects of art. Trained and qualified in graphic design.
