Artist Statement ::
As an artist I believe in the power of creative expression as a means to enlighten and challenge conventional wisdom and preconceived notions. Working in the media of digital photomontage, my body of work serves to pose compelling visual intricacies by mending seemingly disparate images into harmonious compositions layered with detail and possible insights not immediately discernable to the glancing eye.
My recent photomontage work is transitional, evolving I believe toward more figurative and deliberate compositions.
At the same time I am aware that there are several separate threads of thought active in my current work, some moving toward abstraction, some towards more painterly surface, and some embracing the underlying photographic nature of the image sources.

Anton Kirchner is an artist who began painting in 1966 and was eventually intrigued and then captured by the potential of creative expression offered through the new digital technologies. His current works testify to a courageous and proper choice for his evolution as a contemporary artist.
His winning work “Dream of Consciousness 7” clearly demonstrates his abilities to use this medium to create subtlely charged environments which arouse reactions within the viewer.
Kirchner will take part in the Digital Evolutions Exhibition in October 2008 at the ARTROM Gallery Artist Presentation Space.
