Though I have been an artist all my life, pastels have only been my medium for the past 3 years.

I enjoy strong colours and experimenting with them, which at times brings surprising results using chalk pastel.

For the past several years I have concentrated on landscapes as my subject matter, mostly from the West Kootenay of British Columbia. I still have not grown tired of this, having such a plethora to choose from.

Each year I try to attend at least one workshop to improve my technique and learn as much as possible about this medium, but for the most part my artistic practice involves standing in front of an easel, drawing and drawing and drawing, until something appears that might end up as a finished piece.
